Life Happens

Hello dudes and dudettes!

It’s been a while, to say the least. If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I haven’t been as active as I normally am. You also know the reasons why.

For everyone that doesn’t know why I’m so quiet on social media now, this blog post will give you the answer to that.

So, as you can see, I titled this post as “Life Happens”. Sometimes life happens and things turn for the worse. Sometimes things work out in your favor. I’m not sure where I’m at on the scale of “life happens” yet, but I’m hoping everything works out in my favor once it’s all said and done.

Unfortunately because of the circumstances, I can’t go into full details about much. I am going to tell you why I’ve been quiet, but I’m going to focus mainly on where that leaves my writing.

So, first off I went quiet on twitter around the beginning of September with the plan to work more on my writing. I had severely slacked off and wasn’t taking it as seriously as I should have been. For the most part, I actually did start working on my short story, Before Olli, way more. I’m halfway through my second draft, but it wasn’t long after I started that life happened.

Now we’re moving on to the second reason I have been kind of MIA. Around the 10th/11th of September my husband and I took in two kids (A two year old girl and three month old boy). We aren’t sure how long we’ll have them but prior to getting them it was only my husband and I. Taking in two young kids is taking up a lot of our time as we all adjust to our new situation. I personally can’t go into details on why we took in the kids, but I’m very glad that we were in the position to.

I haven’t touched any of my works in progress (WIPs) since we took in the kids, so where does that leave my writing?

Well, here is where I give good news. We got some what of a routine with the kids now and I actually started writing this past week! I’m not writing as much as I used to, of course, but I’m getting a little done.

I did have to push back my release dates for Before Olli (my short story) and my debut novel (still untitled). The push back is probably for the best since I recently restarted on my debut novel, due to not liking where it was heading.

Since I’m not able to get on social media as much as usual, I’m going to try to at least put out two blog posts a month on here. The blog posts is going to be about any and everything honestly. I may just want to update you on my life or update you on my writing.

I’m sorry for the radio silence, but hopefully I’ll be back in full swing soon.

Just want to give a little authors note:
Remember I am not a grammar guru. It took me a full week to write this post. It may not look nor sound like it but I typed it whenever I had the time (Normally, late at night). Follow my twitter if you want real time thoughts of mine. (

Annika K. Parker is an army housewife who's based in North Carolina. As a kid who got bullied, escaping reality between the pages of books was her favorite past time. It wasn't long before she started to write creatively. Now, with the help of coffee and wine, she's set out to make writing her career. She's hoping the characters, stories, and worlds she creates helps others as much as her favorite authors' did for her.
